Rascal Square was started amidst the throes of a worldwide pandemic by native New Yorkers Brian McGowan and Magie Serpica. As artists, both Brian and Magie have collaborated in various ways in the past, and had talked about doing a product line over several brainstorming sessions months prior. However, their entrepreneurial minds met in the depths of uncertainty and under quarantine, to officially jumpstart this endeavor. And within a single day, Rascal Square was birthed.
Both Brian and Magie have been actively creating art in various media in the five boroughs of NYC, and parts of New Jersey. Both of their resumes provide an extensive array of skills from illustration work, murals, music, performance art, and more. Their collective business minded abilities, as well as their creative skills, have been assets to giving them the tools needed to launch this undertaking, with each bringing a unique area of expertise to the table.
All of the bandana designs are made by these two artists, with hopes of expanding to collaborate in the future with other artists in their community. Each bandana is designed and printed in Staten Island, NYC, and Maplewood, NJ, and are treated like an original gallery level piece of work. They have taken care to source their products locally, with the highest quality and hand inspected applications for each item.
Why bandanas? It's art, with a function!
